Our latest members evening offered a varied programme. We started with two short instructional videos downloaded from the internet, the first two parts of a series of named “Photography That Reaches People” by Jim Southard. We plan to show further parts of this series at future meetings. We then went on to view some of the high-scoring images from the 2012 Charles Hoskins competition run by the CPA. As we went through the images we all offered our critique/observations which led to some interesting discussions! As we are hoping to encourage members to enter images into this competition in 2013, this was a useful exercise.
During the second part of the meeting we concentrated on preparations for our Exhibition in September. Claudia talked members through the images and mounts needed, then went on to show a video which demonstrated the tools & technique needed to cut your own mounts. Claudia went on to give a ‘hands-on’ demonstration, so that members could see mount cutting theory-in-practice. We finished the evening by inviting a “show and tell” session with members talking us through some of their own images – an ideal opportunity to see some of the photos that were taken at our Geevor field trip, and a number of other locations.
