At our meeting last Tuesday we had the chance to view a CD of the photographs which were accepted for the Exhibitions held by the WCPF (Western Counties Photographic Federation) in 2011. We had a choice of photos covering Nature, Creative, Mono & General categories – so there was something for everyone. It was an inspirational collection although I have to say that I found some of the ‘creative’ work less easy to understand! Also included was a “Travelling Critique” collection (TC). The TC consists of photos which just missed out on being selected for exhibition, but it was very interesting to look through them, with us all making comments (and criticisms?) as we went along. It was great to get the chance to critique work of this standard and hear everyone’s opinions.
Each year the WCPF holds exhibitions of both printed and projected photographs. It offers an opportunity to showcase and enjoy the work of WCPF Photographers, Clubs and Societies. Anyone who is a member of a club within the WCPF can submit their work – St Agnes Photo Club is a member of the WCPF, so next year maybe we should have a go!
We also had a look at the Street Photography shots member had managed to capture over the last few months but since Nikki was the only one to bring any along, this was fairly short session. Nevertheless, as Nikki talked us through her photos, I definitely regretted that I hadn’t made the effort myself. Must try harder.
