On Tuesday, we invited Bryan Crick, (President of the CPA and prominent member of the St Ives Photo club) to come to our meeting to judge this year’s members competition. Our members had been invited to submit their images is two categories 1) Open (any subject/style) and 2) Red (any image which fits this title). Bryan was a most generous judge; he started the evening my commending the overall standard of the work submitted then went on to make constructive and considered comments about each and every individual image. Although it was a tough choice (altogether we over 80 images submitted), these were Bryan’s winners:
OPEN: 1st: Claudia Crewes “Rio” 2nd: Ian Williams “Tuscany” 3rd: Brian Guttridge “Dad” HC: Alan Barker “Rocky Shore” & “Forgotten Coast”; Jane Sawle “Lanhydrock Bluebells”, Andy McReady “Who Are You” NHC*: Ginny Norris “Aberystwyth Starlings”; Dave Bourne “Grounded”; Lindsey Cowl “Catching a Break”; Allison Randlesome “Waiting”
RED: 1st: Claudia Crewes “Bubble” 2nd: Alan Barker “The Hot Seat” 3rd: Dave Bourne “Warming Up” HC: Alan Barker “Little Boat Lost”; Ginny Norris “Breakfast in Red” & “Off to See the Sights”, Andy McReady “Red River Cafe” NHC*: Geoff Osborne “Looking Out at Autumn”; Ian Williams “Red Racer”; Nicola Bathe “Lady in Red”
Bryan particularly applauded the range of subject matter tackled successfully by members. He was convinced that the quality of the club’s work could lead to some success in the wider world – that is, competitions run by the CPA.
Thank you again to Bryan (and his patient wife Maureen who accompanied him) for all the hard work he put into judging our competition and his helpful and constructive comments throughout the evening.
