Well, rather disappointingly, our speaker planned for the evening – Mark Whitaker of the Screech Owl Sanctuary – was unable to make it. Instead we had the chance to view some more of the WCPF photos – using the club’s brand new projector! This time we took a look at the “General” category, and we took the time to critique each image – we’re very good at critising/admiring other people’s work – and there was certainly a very varied selection to view. After a short break for refreshments at the bar (this month we met at the Miners & Mechanics whilst the WI Hall is still out of action), we went on to look at some of the photos our members took when we visited Kennal Vale in December. Our Kennal Vale visit was a great success. Although the weather was dull, the photographic opportunities were endless – streams, derelict industrial buildings, woods, quarries – the venue had it all and we all agreed that we need to re-visit at other times of the year. The less-than-ideal conditions could be seen in the photos taken, but nevertheless many of our experiments with different camera settings had paid off and produced some good work for the meeting to enjoy.
